It is the supreme art of the teacher to awaken joy in creative expression and knowledge.

The Upper Deck Club, a part of Decker Golf, is a place to highlight students who have excelled during and after instruction with me. We will spotlight them with their photos, a short biography, and a list of accomplishments. I am looking forward to sharing all the students’ successes with you.

  • Clark McGeorge

August 2, Clark of the Westerville North Golf Team shot a 69 at Royal American Golf Course to finish Medalist in the high school event. Great job, Clark!

  • Connor Hutkai

Connor recently made his first hole-in-one at the New Albany Country Club on 2 North. Connor hit a 4-hybrid 175 yards to a back pin placement for an ace! Congratulations, Connor!

  • Maddi Shoults

Maddi Shoults recently competed in the Women's Ohio Amateur at the Belmont Hills Country Club in St. Clarksville, Ohio. She finished Runner-up in the Second Flight, winning three matches (4&3, 3&1, and 7&5). She returned to Youngstown State University to start her junior year. Congratulations, Maddi!

  • Sam McClain

I have been working with Sam McClain over the last two years. Sam has only played golf for three years and had never broken 80 until this past week. We had long talks about this mental hurdle, and I told Sam, "You will break 80 soon!" This week at Darby Creek, Sam shot 72! When he texted me to let me know, I responded, "You not only broke 80, but you knocked the door down!" I am proud of Sam's continued hard work!

  • Bill Kiefaber

Bill Kiefaber, 55, is coming off two elbow surgeries and wanted to get back to his prior golf form. He invested in a package of six lessons and focused on the basics - grip, ball position, stance, etc. - to find a comfortable swing for his reconstructed elbow. He still has a lot of work to do, but his net scores are a good indication of his progress.
